International Translation Day 2022: History, Significance,,Theme.

Every year on September 30th, International Translation Day is celebrated to celebrate professional translators. The main purpose of this event was to designate a world day to honor the contributions that translators and other language specialists make to society.

The day is intended to be an opportunity to recognize the work of language professionals who play an important role in uniting nations, facilitating dialogue, understanding and cooperation, contributing to development and strengthening peace and global security.

 HISTORY

Since the founding of the International Federation of Translators in 1953, a day has been established in honor of Holy Father Jerome of the translator and the interpreter the To raise public awareness of  the International Association of Translators began celebrating the day in all countries in 1991.

The day marked the celebration of the Bible translator, St. Jerome, considered the father of translators. "Saint Jerome was a priest from north-eastern Italy best known for his efforts to translate most of the Bible into Latin from the Greek manuscripts of the New Testament.

On May 24, 2017, the General Assembly passed a resolution for language professionals and declared September 30 as International Translation Day. Founded in 1953, the International Federation of Translators (FIT) came up with the idea of ​​recognizing Translation Day in 1991 to promote the profession worldwide

THEME

Each year, a theme is introduced in honor of World Translation Day. This year's theme is "A world without barriers". 

SIGNIFICANCE 

The day celebrates the efforts of translators and other linguists who are vital in promoting international dialogue that promotes peace and progress. .

Translators contribute to the growth of mankind by translating literary, scientific and technical materials from one language into another. The day honors and raises awareness of the importance of translators and interpreters.
