Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch 5G services on October 1, 2022 10:00am at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. PM Modi will also launch the 6th edition of the Indian Mobile Congress (IMC). The IMC 2022 will take place from October 1st to 4th under the motto "New Digital Universe". It will bring together leading thinkers, entrepreneurs, innovators and government officials to discuss and present unique opportunities arising from the rapid adoption and spread of digital technology, PMO said in a statement. This comes a month after Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said 5G will be rolled out on October 12.
In the 5G spectrum auction organized by the Department of Telecommunications (DOT) and the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) earlier this year, Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, Adani Data Services and Vodafone Idea bid 5G spectrum in the value of ₹:150,173 crore. The highest bidder 6,228 MHz spectrum in 1800 MHz Reliance Jio with a 58.65 percent share of the total value. Bharti Airtel is the second highest bidder among the four participants with bids valued at Rs 43,084 crore.
Vodafone Idea Limited has made offers worth Rs 18,799 crore to acquire Rs 6,228 MHz spectrum at 1800MHz, 2100MHz, 2500MHz, 3300MHz and 26GHz.The first auction of 5G spectrum in India started on July 26th. The auction ended after a total of 40 bidding rounds, which took place over seven days. A total of 40 bidding rounds were carried out. In early August, the government issued spectrum allocation letters to telecom providers, urging them to prepare for the rollout of 5G services in the country. All major telecom operators are ready to roll out 5G services across the country
