SEVERAL DISTRICTS IN KARNATAKA HAS YELLOW ALERT
The meteorological department has activated a yellow alert for several districts of Karnataka including Bangalore and Belagavi. The incessant rains have brought life in the city of Bangalore to a standstill.
The Karnataka government declared a public holiday for schools and colleges in Bangalore on Tuesday amid heavy rains. "Heavy rains caused flooding in different parts of Bangalore and several trees were uprooted on Monday.A public holiday was declared for schools and colleges in Bangalore on Tuesday due to heavy rain," said K Srinivas of Bengaluru Urban DC, quoted by ANI news agency.
The Karnataka Government has estimated the rain-related losses from June to 2020 in a total of Rs 7,647.13 crore and will submit an application to the Center for relief of Rs 1,012.5 crore under the rules of the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF).
Chancellor of the Exchequer R. Ashoka, a total of 96 people lost their lives three missing due to rain-related incidents since June, three people have died in the last 24 hours alone.
